A few weeks ago I was talking to my little boy on the phone. We had a weird conversation that went something like this:
“Daddy are you the President of Dare 2 Share Ministries?”
“Yes.”
“You’ve got to tell me these things daddy!”
“Jeremy, you didn’t know that I was president of Dare 2 Share?”
“No. Christian told me” (Christian is Jeremy’s friend whose dad works for D2S) “I just thought you worked there.”
Pause
“That means that you are the boss of everyone and they have to listen to you right?”
“Um, well, I am not the boss of everyone. I have a group of people that I lead but also another group of people I have to answer to called a ‘board’. I ask God for wisdom because he is ultimately in charge of everything.”
“Oh. So you listen to Jesus and then tell everyone else what to do.”
“Um, something like that. We try to figure out what Jesus wants us to do together but I’m the one responsible before God and the board to make sure it gets done.”
Pause
“But you’re the President of Dare 2 Share right?”
“Yes.”
“Daddy, you’ve got to tell me these things!”
Pause
“I love you son.”
“I love you daddy.”
