“…give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”  1 Thessalonians 5:18

Far too many times we, as Christians, are known for our whining and complaining instead of our gratefulness and thanksgiving. Sadly, we are often seen as a group of uptight, far-right and full-of-spite ungratefuls who long for “the good old days” of yesteryear instead of a humble, grateful people who count it an honor to be followers of Jesus in a fallen culture.

So, in light of the Thanksgiving holiday, here are 10 reasons Christians should be the most thankful people on the planet:

1.  We have a Savior who paid the price for all our sins!

“Yet God freely and graciously declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood.”  Romans 3:24,25

2.  We have a Redeemer who conquered death and is praying for us!

“Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.”  Romans 8:34

3.  We have a God who will never leave us or forsake us.

“For God has said, ‘I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.’” Hebrews 13:5

4.  We have been adopted into the family of God as his very own children.

“God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, ‘Abba, Father.’ Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir.”  Galatians 4:5-7

5.  We have a global family of brothers and sisters called “the church.”

“…be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are.” 1 Peter 5:9

6.  We have a cause worth living for.

Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.”  Matthew 28:19

7.  We have a King worth dying for.

“If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it.”  Matthew 10:39

8.  We have purpose to our pain.

“So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.”  1 Peter 1:6,7

9. We will rule and reign with Jesus someday.

“It is a trustworthy statement: For if we died with Him, we will also live with Him; If we endure, we will also reign with Him….”  2 Timothy 2:11,12

10.  We have been rescued from hell and guaranteed heaven.

“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?  When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.”  John 14:1-3
