This morning started well in beautiful Maui. Right away Jeremy found the first clue to where Blackbeard’s treasure was hidden. It was conveniently left on our outside porch. Here’s how the first clue read:
“Nut, nut, coco hut
Open up what now is shut.
Find the milk and drink it up.
See if you can handle that.”
I asked Jeremy what he thought the clue meant. He said,
“I have to get the coconut daddy and drink the milk inside and get the clue.”
So the quest began.
It all started with some time swimming in the pool at the Embassy Suites we are staying at, going down the water slide a few times (or ten), renting some snorkel gear and heading to town for some shopping (sudden rain storms drove us from the beach to the mall, much to my wife’s good pleasure.)
But it was there that we found the special coconut. Jeremy took a big swig of the milk and then proceeded to break open the tropical fruit, nut (or whatever food group it falls into), somehow “magically” the second clue appeared. Jeremy reached into the broken brown husk and took out the crumpled piece of paper, asking me to read it. I obliged. The second clue read:
“To the beach and in the sand.
Go by the rock and you’ll feel grand.
On your way to finding treasure
Dig and dig with proper measure.”
We hit the beach tomorrow. Who knows what we will discover? I’m sure it will be a lot of fun. It always is to bring a smile to my little boy’s face.
What’s the spiritual point to all this? I’m sure there is one. Have any guesses?
